47th National Disability Rights Week
Empowering Lives, Advancing Inclusion
In a heartfelt commitment to inclusivity and awareness, the 47th National Disability Rights Week was meaningfully observed from July 17 to July 23 through a series of educational and health-oriented activities. Spearheaded by Past President Dra. Betty Dy Mancao, the event was held in strong partnership with Manila Medical Center, reaffirming the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self through advocacy, education, and compassion.
Over the course of five days, more than 70 participants—including healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and advocates—gathered to engage in a series of sessions focused on various aspects of rehabilitation and disability awareness. Each session provided valuable knowledge on accessible healthcare, therapy innovations, support systems, and inclusive practices, with the goal of empowering individuals with disabilities and strengthening the community’s role in building a more inclusive society.
The weeklong observance not only honored the rights and contributions of persons with disabilities but also emphasized the need for continuous collaboration between medical institutions, civic organizations, and local communities. With the leadership of Dra. Mancao and the support of the Rotary community, the initiative was a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we work together for inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
When compassion meets action, change begins. Together, we move toward a society that uplifts every ability and values every voice. 💙♿
