Organized by the Rotary Club of Raha Sulayman Manila and the Rotaract Club of Raha Sulayman Volunteers of Rotary International District 3810
📅 Date: July 27, 2025
📍 Venue: Barangay San Agustin Covered Court, Malabon City
In response to the health threats brought by recent flooding in Malabon, the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Raha Sulayman Manila initiated a targeted Relief Operation and Leptospirosis Prevention Campaign. This project not only addressed the immediate needs of affected families but also aimed to raise critical awareness on the prevention of leptospirosis, a deadly bacterial infection commonly transmitted through floodwaters contaminated by rodent urine.
Through this initiative, volunteers distributed essential relief packs containing food, water, hygiene kits, and protective gear, alongside health information flyers and educational talks about early symptoms and preventive measures against leptospirosis.
The event was made successful through strong multi-sectoral collaboration:
🤝 In partnership with:
The City Government of Malabon
Mayor Jeannie Ng Sandoval
Vice Mayor Edward Nolasco
🫱 With the invaluable support of UCP Roland Gabral of Rotary Club of Liwasang Bonifacio, whose leadership and hands-on involvement helped ensure the swift coordination and distribution of aid.
💡 This initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to Disease Prevention and Treatment, one of its seven areas of focus. As climate change continues to increase the frequency of extreme weather events, vulnerable communities like those in Malabon are at higher risk of post-flood illnesses. This campaign is a proactive response to those risks—blending humanitarian relief with public health education.
Disaster response doesn't end with relief—it begins with awareness. Through this campaign, Rotary reaffirms its pledge to not only care for communities in crisis but to empower them with knowledge, preparedness, and protection. Together, we stand for a healthier, more resilient future.
